Small business Saturday? Artist Sunday?
How about 'Made in the 330 Monday?'
(Yes, yes, we know it's Cyber Monday, go with us here.)
Announcing 'A ZipsGuide shop small & local Holiday Market,' a holiday shop, featuring vendors from around the 330 (and maybe a little further). The market is Monday, Dec. 2 from 2 to 7 p.m. in The University of Akron's Jean Hower Taber Student Union at 303 Carroll Street, Akron.
ZipsGuide.com and UA's Campus Programs have joined forces to produce this shop-local showcase where students, the community, and locally-based small businesses can come together one for big, awesome shopportunity.
As part of the ZipsGuide project, which allows students to collaborate directly with Downtown Akron Partnership as a hands-on learning experience with community impact, the market's mission is twofold:
First, it aims to connect the Akron community directly with the students by inviting the community into the heart of campus.
Second, it aims to serve as a booster for small businesses, enterpreneurs and new and established crafters, creators and makers in the region, where holiday markets are often waitlist only. There is no space/table fee for vendors interested in participating and no fee for community members who come to shop. Outside of parking, this event, sponsored by Student Affairs is no-cost and open and accessible to all.
ZipsGuide.com is a team comprised of students from the Fall 2024 PR Writing and PR Strategic Campaigns courses at The University of Akron, Akron Community Internship Program interns and editor, professor Julie Cajigas. The student team is the driving force behind the event, gaining hands-on experience by conducting research, planning and implementing a communication campaign, and collaborating with others on event planning and logistics.
Vendors and hands-on crafts are still being added to the market. The ZipsGuide.com student team would like to encourage fellow student makers to apply to vend at the event.
Please check back for updates, a complete vendor list and more info as it becomes available.
