Buying a tangible gift is great, but helping your recipient connect with a community is a gift they will never forget. Those shopping for a cyclist or bike enthusiast should visit Dirty River Bicycle Works in the Northside District of Downtown Akron.

Dirty River Bicycle Works isn't just a great place to buy a new bike and get your bike fixed. When you gift a bike, accessory or gift card, you're not just gifting an item; you are introducing the recipient to a place where they can find their people.

For your friends and family who are interested in finding a bike shop to shop or people to ride with, Ryan Adams the owner of the shop holds group rides every Sunday at 10 a.m., leaving from the shop and riding through the downtown Akron and towpath.  Adams ensures that everyone feels welcome and that nobody is left behind.

“We want to help you love every minute on your bike," Adams said. "We will listen to your goals, and suggest things to help you long after you leave.”

Adams has had the goal of not only getting people into riding bikes, but also ensuring that the bikes that he sells are the right fit for the customer. This has been his goal since he opened up Dirty River Bicycle works in 2016.

“Bikes are supposed to be fun," he said. "We have a lot of unique ways to enjoy life on two wheels. Go and do likewise.”

Working in the bike industry since 1999 Adams has worked at many bike shops. Since first opening Dirty River Bicycle Works he has made sure that he and the staff keep in mind that riding bikes is just a fun recreational activity and it should not be taken too seriously.

Dirty River Bicycle works is not only a great place to buy a bike or have one worked, but has also helped create a cycling community in the Akron area.
