If January dragged by and February has zipped past and you haven’t made plans for Valentines Day Weekend, have no fear.  

ZipsGuide has the skinny on the best last-minute ideas to treat that special someone in your life.  

While many Valentines events have already sold out, we have curated a collection of options that are still available. But we suggest you hurry. Get your tickets and make your reservations as soon as you read. We can’t guarantee these picks won’t sell out soon.Whether it is Valentines, Galentines, or Palentines, we wish you fun, exciting adventures filled with love!

1: Ohio Shakespeare Festival presents Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare

“The two dignified households, those two star-crossed lovers, and that one famous balcony. Ohio Shakes presents Shakespeare’s classic tale of young romance and dazzling swordplay. This ageless and fresh production is sure to remind us all that Romeo and Juliet is one of Will’s most engaging comedies, right up until that fated moment when tragedy strikes.”

Tickets range from $5 to $35. Reserve seats at the beautiful Greystone Hall on the Henry C Bishop Stage at 103 S High St. before shows sell out. 

On Friday, February 14, couples will receive a special gift at the door. 

2: Circa: Deco at the Akron Art Museum featuring Dave Banks Big Band 

Come celebrate the roaring ‘20s, the 1920s that is, with Circa:Deco at the Akron Art Museum on Friday, February 14 from 7:30 to 11:00 p.m. 

The12-piece Dave Banks Big Band will play classics  for this 1920s themed dance party. Tickets include a speakeasy scavenger hunt, delicious slices from Totally Baked Pizza, and more. There will be a cash bar where guests can enjoy a variety of spirits.  

Tickets are $15 for members, $25 for non-members and $75 for VIP tickets.

3. Head out on the Ice at Lock 3 

Next on our list for love connections comes the all-season long recreation at the beautiful and central Lock 3 , located in the heart of Downtown Akron at 200 S Main St.  

Slide into love on the ice by reserving ice bikes, ice bumper cars or ice skates. For more information on hours, reservations and costs, visit the Lock 3 Winterblast website. 

4. Blu Jazz is of course on our list to celebrate the Valentines romance in the air.  

How can you not feel sparks fly as Eddie Baccus Jr. presents "Sax for the Heart to Heal" - Valentine's Day Celebration on Fri, Feb 14. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Blu Jazz offers a seasonal menu from their “scratch kitchen” and is also part of the Blu-tique Hotel located directly across the street. “Soulful & funky Cleveland native saxophonist, Eddie Baccus Jr., returns to BLU Jazz for a heartfelt and healing night of saxophone and smooth jazz! Bring your Valentine or come alone, we would love to spend the evening with you!”

5. Finally, we want to bring together movie goers to a hidden treasure for Downtown Akron known as the Nightlight.  

They describe themselves as “the cozy go-to spot for you to enjoy the cinematic art form alongside our diverse community of curious filmgoers, here in Akron and across Northeast Ohio.”   

This weekend’s feature is “The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” which won for Best Original Screenplay in 2004. This small cinema setting is the perfect “spot” to watch this masterpiece.

The Nighlight is located at 30 N. High St. It’s right next to Akron Coffee Roasters and across the street from Totally Baked Pizza giving you a choice between a delicious slice or a warm drink before or after the show.
